Flowers for the House of the Lord

The Altar Ladies Society’s history goes back to the time of the little chapel when some ladies would get together to provide fresh flower arrangements for the sanctuary every week. Those ladies may be gone, but their work continues. For almost five decades now, new members have continued to beautify the house of the Lord. There are 12 members at present, working in pairs to do the weekly arrangements. At feast days, they come together as a team. Easter is a busy time when the palms need to be cleaned and more floral arrangements are required for the Easter Tridium. But the joy of working for the Lord is the spirit that has continued to inspire us onwards

What Do We Do ?

Here are the activities undertaken by our humble society

• Weekly flower decorations for the sanctuary
• Floral arrangements for weddings
• Sale of flowers for Mother’s Day, proceeds of which go to the parish after deducting costs
• An annual dinner to celebrate the passion of service of our members
• Fellowship after the hard work
• Contributions to charity
