Preparing for a Milestone in Your Life
The Catholic Marriage Preparation Course (CMPC) was formerly known as Evenings for
the Engaged. It is the marriage preparation course of the KL Archdiocese aimed at preparing engaged couples for Catholic marriage and the vocation of family life and love.
A good marriage preparation program can help engaged couples develop a positive attitude and outlook of marriage, not to merely avoid difficulties but to see in marriage a unique opportunity for personal fulfillment and lasting happiness.
What is Required of Engaged Couples Attending the Course?
Engaged couples are encouraged to:
- To give their undivided attention during each session to develop a better understanding of Catholic marriage
- To evaluate and deepen their readiness to live married life
- To gain insights into themselves as individuals and as a couple
- To be open and honest in their reflections and discussions
There is a fee of RM75 per couple, which covers the cost of couple packs, writing materials and refreshments that are provided at the host’s home. In addition, engaged couples are required to participate in Natural Fertility Awareness sessions that instruct the engaged couples in the area of natural family planning methods as well as basic gynaecological health.
Weekend CMPC
In addition to the 6 to 9 week CMPC course, there is also the option of a Weekend Course that is conducted in the KL Archdiocese. At the discretion of the Parish Priest, engaged couples unable to attend the 6 to 9 week course (e.g. because of shift work or residence in different towns), are placed in the Weekend Course (Friday to Sunday). |
