 The distribution of Holy Communion at Mass by lay persons called Extra Ordinary Ministers Of Communion (ECMs) or Communion Ministers started in Assumption in 1990 and 1991. From a few persons appointed by the then parish priest Rev Fr Volle, there are now about 80 communion ministers serving for all the various weekday and weekend Masses.
In addition to this there are some communion ministers who have volunteered to take Holy Communion to the sick in the homes and occasionally to the hospitals in the PJ area.
The appointment of Communion Ministers to serve in the parish is the sole discretion of the Parish Priest with the recommendation of the Sacristan .The Sacristan is the Main Coordinator for the Communion Ministers and is assisted in this responsibility by 2 Assistant Coordinators.
