Informing Minds, Encouraging Positive Action
Also known as the Parish Media Team for short, the Media Apostolate and Social Communication Team at the Assumption takes care of the often-overlooked but precious internal communication aspect of the Parish. Ok, What Exactly Do We Do?
Keeping the Family Informed of Parish Programs and Activities
As the parish is usually busy all year round with multiple goings-on and activities, the imparting of knowledge and information that is as up-to-date as possible (we’ll try our best!) to all parishioners is important.
Channel directives from the Archdiocese through the Parish Pastoral Committee and Parish Coordinating Council
While the PPC and PCC plan and organise our yearly parish event, we help them to communicate to parishioners like you so that all are aligned to the causes at hand. Examples: Understanding and applying annual themes like “Brother and
Sisterhood” and “Church as a Mystery of Communion” and moving as one in line with the NIP (New Image of the Parish) Program.
Sharing to Promote Caring and Unified Celebration
As our parish is essentially a large family of brothers and sisters, it is difficult for each to know what the other is up to. By sharing with everybody all that is occurring, we can contribute to the building of the Parish and Church by encouraging harmony and participation.
For example, there is nothing as joyful as celebrating together the baptism of a newborn or the marriage of a fellow parishioner who has grown up in our church. We feel tenderness knowing we have passionate parishioners who make us proud at the inter-parish games. And hopeful and charge up when we hear of formation programs that help us become better disciples.
Highlighting Issues that Concern our Spiritual Development
We also aim at highlighting various issues that seem to threaten society (e.g., family life, consumerism, youth, etc) in the hope of making people realise each ones role and vocation in society.
Here are some of the media vehicles we use to disperse information to all of you:
