The couple must personally contact the Parish Priest or the Assistant Parish Priest at least 9 months prior to the anticipated wedding date. (Ensure that approval is obtained from your Parish Priest if either party does not belong to the Petaling District Churches but wish to be married in Assumption.Church PJ.)

The couple is required to register and attend the CMPC (Catholic Marriage Preparation Course). The Church will inform the couple of the earliest available session. The CMPC stretches over a period of 6 weeks; one session per week and the duration of each session is approximately 2 hours. There is also a weekend CMPWC for couples who work irregular hours.
A certificate will be presented to the couple on the last day of the programme. This certificate is a pre-requisite for marriage in the Catholic Church.

On completion of the CMPC/CMPWC the couple must then make an appointment to meet the Parish Priest for the Pre-Nuptial Interview (PNI). The couple must present their
- I/C Bride & Bridegroom
- I/C Witnesses (Both parties)
- Latest copy of Baptism Certificate-within 6 months of your anticipated wedding date (Catholic/Christian Party)
- Birth Certificate (Both Parties)
- CMPC (Catholic Marriage Preparation Course) Certificate | Original to sight and photocopy for Church
- An approval letter from the Parish Priest if the couple does not belong to the Petaling District Churches but want to be married in Assumption Church PJ.
- A passport-size photograph each of the Bride, the Bridegroom and the witnesses
- Civil Registration Certificate if already registered
This interview should be completed before making arrangements for the Civil registration. |
Upon completion of step 3, the couple will be required to register their marriage with the Civil Registration Office
Couples should also note that the wedding banns are required by law to be placed at the Registration Office for a period of at least one month, before the civil registration can take place. Wedding banns will also be placed in Church.

| Simple DOs and DON'Ts to follow |
- Kindly refrain from selecting secular songs during Mass service. There are many Catholic/Christian songs that are suited for weddings.
- Cameraman | photo-taking are allowed only during
- entrance & exit to & from church
- exchange of vows, rings &
- signing of wedding register
- Please do not throw confetti or blow soap bubbles in Church. It is hard to clean up in time for other masses.
- All handphones are to be switced off during Mass. This could be inserted in the wedding booklets prepared by the couple.
- As this is your special day in Church please ensure that the bride and groom are to be attired appropriately.
- Please be punctual for your special day. Do not be late as it may affect other mass arrangements or disrupt the priests' other schedules.
- Ensure that the Best Man/Ringbearer has the rings in hand
- The commentators and readers are to be selected by the couple. They should be Catholics. If the couple requests a commentator, the music group they chooses will be able to assist.

The above are the approved music groups that can be requested to sing at weddings for a fee between RM200 to RM300. Please liaise with the intended group directly. The Parish does not receive any sum from this payment.
Should you wish to use an outside singing group, organist or musicians, the decision will be made by the parish priest or the assistant parish priest on a case by case basis. |

Floral arrangement and decorations can be organised through the Altar Ladies Society. These must be removed immediate after the service. All payment go directly to the Altar Ladies Society.

The wedding booklet must be done according to the guidelines given by the Church. This will be done by the couple with their choice of Catholic songs, readings etc. Please allow the Priest to vet through the draft before printing. You may download the booklet from "Sacraments |Matrimony " in this website. As there are three different versions of booklet, please download appropriately. The phrase "baptised Catholics may now come forward to receive the Holy Eucharist" should be included at the appropriate place.
If you do not know of any printer, we can recommend one for you. |

| Currently, it costs RM70.00 (Seventy Ringgit only) to book a wedding mass. Kindly get a receipt for this payment from the parish office. The Altar Ladies (for decorations and flowers) and the Music Group are to be paid directly to them. |
